With over 35 years of experience in forestry contracting and woodland management, we understand the importance of good-quality timber and how it should be prepared for use as firewood. Much of our hardwood is sourced directly through our own forestry operations, allowing us to make practical use of locally harvested timber rather than relying entirely on imported products. From sourcing and processing to seasoning and delivery, we take pride in providing a dependable service to customers throughout Selby.

Quality Seasoned Firewood for Sale in Selby

Using appropriately seasoned firewood is essential for achieving reliable heating performance from your stove or fireplace. Freshly cut timber naturally contains a high level of moisture, which can make it difficult to ignite and reduce the amount of useful heat produced during burning. Proper seasoning allows much of this moisture to escape, helping the wood burn more effectively.

At ADS Timber, we supply seasoned hardwood firewood prepared for domestic heating applications. Our supplies primarily include ash, beech and sycamore, which are popular choices thanks to their good heat output and dependable burning characteristics when adequately dried.

Whether you are preparing your home for winter or simply need additional fuel for your stove, we can discuss the firewood currently available and help you choose a suitable quantity for your needs.

Firewood for Wood-Burning Stoves & Open Fireplaces

Wood-burning stoves and traditional fireplaces provide a welcoming source of warmth in many properties throughout Selby. Whether you live in a modern home with a contemporary stove or an older property with an established fireplace, choosing suitable firewood can make a considerable difference to your heating experience.

Our hardwood firewood is suitable for a range of wood-burning appliances, subject to the manufacturer’s recommendations. Dense hardwoods generally provide a steady, sustained heat output, making them particularly useful for households that rely on their fires regularly during autumn and winter.

Different appliances require different sizes of firewood, and logs that are too large can be inconvenient or unsuitable for smaller stoves. As we process our own timber, we can discuss alternative cutting lengths where practical, helping customers obtain firewood that suits their individual requirements.

Locally Sourced Ash, Beech & Sycamore Firewood

At ADS Timber, we believe that knowing where your firewood comes from matters. Our forestry contracting and woodland management work provides access to hardwood timber that can be processed into useful heating fuel, allowing us to make effective use of resources recovered during responsible woodland operations.

Ash is widely valued as firewood because it offers good heating performance and burns steadily when properly seasoned. Beech is another excellent hardwood for heating, providing substantial heat output and making it suitable for regular use in wood-burning appliances. Sycamore also performs well when adequately dried and provides a practical fuel for domestic fires.

Our available mixture of hardwood species can vary depending on current timber supplies and processing operations. If you have a particular preference, we are happy to discuss the firewood currently in stock.

Bulk Firewood Supplies in Selby

Every household has different firewood requirements. Some customers use their stoves occasionally during colder evenings, while others rely on wood heating as a regular part of their household routine. At ADS Timber, we offer flexible supply quantities, including bulk bags and larger trailer loads, to accommodate different levels of demand.

Ordering firewood in bulk can be particularly convenient for customers who have suitable storage space and want to prepare ahead of the winter season. Keeping an adequate supply available reduces the need for frequent smaller orders and helps ensure that you have fuel ready when temperatures fall.

We can discuss available quantities, prices and delivery arrangements before you place an order, helping you choose a practical option based on your heating needs and available storage.

How to Store Your Firewood Correctly

Proper firewood storage is important for maintaining the condition of your timber after delivery. Even seasoned hardwood can become damp if exposed to persistent rainfall or stored directly on wet ground. Keeping your firewood sheltered and well ventilated helps preserve its suitability for burning.

We recommend using a covered log store or another suitable outdoor storage area that allows air to circulate around the wood. Raising the timber off the ground and avoiding tightly enclosed, poorly ventilated spaces can help prevent unnecessary moisture build-up.

If you are ordering a larger quantity of firewood, it is worth preparing your storage space in advance. This makes unloading and stacking easier and ensures your timber can be kept in appropriate conditions until required.
