Logs in York

At ADS Timber, we supply quality seasoned hardwood logs in York and the surrounding areas, providing homeowners and businesses with a reliable source of locally produced timber for heating. Whether you have a traditional open fireplace, a modern wood-burning stove or another suitable wood-burning appliance, we offer hardwood logs in convenient quantities, including bulk bags and larger trailer loads.

With over 35 years of experience in forestry contracting and woodland management, we understand the importance of sourcing, processing and preparing timber correctly. Much of our hardwood comes directly from our own forestry operations, giving us greater control over the logs we supply. Rather than relying entirely on imported or externally processed products, we make practical use of timber recovered through our work in woodlands across Yorkshire.

Seasoned Hardwood Logs for Sale in York

When purchasing logs for your home, the quality and condition of the timber are important considerations. Properly seasoned hardwood provides reliable heating performance, burns more effectively than freshly cut timber and helps reduce the excessive smoke associated with burning wet wood. At ADS Timber, we supply seasoned hardwood logs that have been processed and air-dried in preparation for use as domestic heating fuel.

Our hardwood supplies primarily include ash, beech and sycamore, all of which are popular choices for wood-burning stoves and open fireplaces. These species offer good heat output and steady burning characteristics when adequately dried, making them suitable for households that use wood heating throughout the colder months.

Whether you are stocking up ahead of winter or replenishing your existing supply, we can discuss the available hardwood species, quantities and cutting lengths to help you choose logs suitable for your requirements.

Ash, Beech & Sycamore Logs for Domestic Heating

Different hardwood species have their own burning characteristics, and selecting suitable timber can help you get the best performance from your stove or fireplace. Ash is a widely recognised firewood species, valued for its reliable heat output and steady burning properties when correctly seasoned. Beech is another dense hardwood that provides sustained warmth, making it particularly useful for regular domestic heating.

Sycamore also makes a practical heating fuel once adequately dried. By processing hardwood recovered through our forestry and woodland management operations, we can supply a selection of useful timber species while making responsible use of locally available woodland resources.

The precise mixture of hardwood logs may vary depending on current forestry operations and stock availability. If you have a preference for a particular species, please contact us to discuss the options available.

Hardwood Logs for Wood-Burning Stoves & Open Fires

Wood-burning stoves are a popular feature in properties throughout York, from traditional homes with established fireplaces to modern houses fitted with contemporary heating appliances. Whether you use your stove as an occasional source of warmth or regularly throughout winter, having an appropriate supply of hardwood logs makes day-to-day heating more convenient.

Our seasoned hardwood logs can be used in suitable wood-burning appliances, subject to the manufacturer’s recommendations. Hardwood is particularly valued for its ability to produce sustained heat, making it a practical choice for customers who want dependable fuel without constantly adding more logs to their fires.

Because different appliances accommodate different log sizes, we can discuss alternative cutting lengths where practical. This is particularly useful for customers with smaller wood-burning stoves that require shorter pieces of timber.

Bulk Bags & Trailer Loads of Logs in York

At ADS Timber, we understand that customers have different requirements when it comes to purchasing hardwood logs. Some households only use their fires occasionally, while others rely on wood-burning appliances as a regular source of heating. We therefore offer flexible supply quantities, including bulk bags and larger trailer loads.

Bulk bags provide a convenient option for customers who want a manageable quantity of logs without requiring extensive storage space. Larger trailer loads can be suitable for households with greater heating demands or properties with sufficient room to store timber safely and effectively.

Purchasing logs in larger quantities can also help you prepare ahead of colder weather, reducing the need to arrange frequent smaller deliveries during periods of high demand. We are happy to discuss current stock, available quantities and delivery arrangements before you place an order.

Locally Sourced Logs from Experienced Forestry Contractors

One of the main advantages of purchasing hardwood logs from ADS Timber is our direct involvement in forestry and woodland management. Our work includes tree felling, woodland thinning, timber harvesting and the management of established woodland environments throughout Yorkshire.

These operations produce timber that can be processed into useful products, including hardwood logs for domestic heating. By making practical use of suitable timber recovered during our forestry activities, we can provide locally sourced fuel while reducing unnecessary waste.

Our extensive experience also means we understand the characteristics of different hardwood species and the importance of appropriate cutting, processing and seasoning. Customers benefit from dealing with a family-run business that has worked directly with timber for decades.

Hardwood Log Delivery in York & Surrounding Areas

We supply hardwood logs throughout York and nearby communities, including Fulford, Haxby, Huntington, Strensall, Dunnington, Bishopthorpe, Copmanthorpe and the surrounding villages. Whether you live in a residential area of York or a rural property outside the city, we can discuss delivery arrangements based on your location and the quantity of logs required.

Our delivery service provides a practical alternative to collecting heavy quantities of timber yourself. We aim to make ordering straightforward, with clear information about available stock, quantities and delivery arrangements.

If your property is located further outside York, please get in touch to confirm whether delivery can be arranged. We are happy to discuss individual requirements and provide further information about our hardwood log supplies.

Preparing & Storing Your Hardwood Logs

Correct storage is important for maintaining the condition of your logs after delivery. Even seasoned hardwood can absorb moisture when exposed to persistent rainfall or stored directly on damp ground. To help preserve the quality of your timber, we recommend keeping logs in a sheltered, well-ventilated location where air can circulate freely.

A purpose-built log store is ideal, although other suitable covered storage arrangements can also work well. Raising logs off the ground and protecting them from direct rainfall helps prevent unnecessary moisture build-up while allowing the timber to remain ventilated.

If you are planning to purchase a larger quantity of logs, it is worth preparing your storage space before delivery. This helps ensure that your timber can be unloaded and stacked conveniently, ready for use when required.
